Started arm wrestling:

I first started armwrestilng in April 2004.  One of SA's best armwrestlers, Armand du Toit, nagged me for two years to join them!  I hung up my "squatsuit' (power lifting) in 1994.  There was just no more competition for me in my age and weight class.  In armwrestling I am allowed to participate in the senior ladies class (I'm a master), which makes my armwrestling career endless.

What changes would you like to see in this sport?

Armwrestling is still a very male dominant sport in South Africa.  I would like to see more ladies competing and definitely more sub-juniors (boys & girls) and junior girls.

Miscellaneous:

I have several powerlifting records in the dead lift and bench press for the period 1987 - 1994.  My first gold medal in a SA Championship was in September 1987.  I was the first woman in SA attempting to pull a plane in the year 2000, weighing 75000kg's.  It moved!  Oh yeah, it moved!  Gold in the World Bench Press Championships in 2001.

I am the big chief in charge of the Warrior Power Team.  We are 10 members (6 girls & 4 guys) between the ages of 11 and 57.  We do strongman stunts such as truck pull, hand-over-hand pull, tyre flip and obviously armwrestling at churches, shopping malls, school, etc.
